Rebar.

There’s a wasteland behind my flat. It used to be a train station. Some of the tracks are still there. Recently the platform was demolished. Most of the debris was taken away.

Some was not.

What remained of the platform is small chunks of concrete. Each piece reinforced with rebar that has warped from the destruction. The warping has given the concrete an organic look.

Think Coral Reef.

Think a Tangle of Thorns.

Think Boa Constrictor.

I think there is an intimacy to these images. Something almost voyeuristic. These steel bars are locked within concrete for decades.

They are not supposed to be observed.

They are not supposed to be beautiful.
